B.Sc., Engineering Physics, Polytechnic University of Turin, 2018
M.Sc., Physics of Complex Systems, Polytechnic University of Turin and Sorbonne University, 2020, Prof. Dr. Michel Benzaquen
Ph.D., Clermont-Auvergne University, 2024, Prof. Dr. Alain Dequidt, Dr. Patrice Hauret (Michelin) and Prof. Dr. Vincent Barra (LIMOS)
Gian-Michele comes from Sardinia (Italy) and obtained his Bachelor Degree in Engineering Physics at the Polytechnic University of Turin. He thereafter pursued an international M.Sc. in Physics of Complex Systems and Mathematical Engineering conducted between Sorbonne University (Paris), SISSA and ICTP (Trieste), and the Polytechnic University of Turin, with a master thesis on physics-inspired models of financial markets at the Capital Fund Management Chair of Econophysics and Complex Systems at Ecole Polytechnique, in Paris, under the supervision of Michel Benzaquen. He then started his PhD at Clermont-Auvergne University, at SimatLab, under the supervision of Prof. Alain Dequidt and co-supervision of both Dr. Patrice Hauret (Michelin) and Prof. Vincent Barra (LIMOS), where he developed machine learning methods applied to large-scale molecular simulations of polymeric materials, with the objective of accelerating discovery and material design. After a brief experience as a machine learning researcher at NuMind, he joined the Artificial Organic Chemistry Lab in June 2025, where, in collaboration with the Big Chemistry consortium, he works on deep learning models applied to closed-loop optimization of molecules in different domains, from organocatalysis to self-assembly.
