Michael was born in 2000 in Kuala Kapuas, Indonesia. In high school, he participated in the Indonesian Science Olympiad before beginning his bachelor studies in chemistry at the University of Indonesia, supported by an Indonesian Government Excellence Scholarship. He continued his education as an Erasmus Mundus scholar in the SERP+ program, studying at the University of Paris-Saclay (France) and Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland). For his master’s thesis, he joined the CEA in France under the supervision of Dr. David Carriére, where he worked on the high-throughput synthesis of metal oxides and their characterization using synchrotron-based SWAXS. In October 2025, he joined the Pollice Research Group as a PhD candidate within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie CATALOOP network. His current research focuses on closed-loop experiments in catalytic asymmetric hydrofunctionalization reaction.
