Serhii was born in 1990 in Dnipro, Ukraine. He earned his bachelor degree in synthetic and medical chemistry from Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. He continued his education with the Erasmus Mundus “Advanced Spectroscopy in Chemistry” program, studying at Leipzig University, Germany, and the University of Bergen, Norway. There, he delved into physical and technical aspects of NMR, optical spectroscopy, mass-spectrometry and X-ray diffraction, followed by a Master's thesis on iron-catalyzed Kumada cross-couplings under Professor Hans-René Bjørsvik. After an internship in polymer chemistry at BASF China in Shanghai, he pursued a PhD at Utrecht University, focusing on stabilizing unusual oxidation states through charge separation under the guidance of Dr. Marc-Etienne Moret. Post-PhD, he worked for a year as a process chemist at Symeres Groningen before joining the Pollice Research Group in April 2024, where he explores applications of machine learning in chemistry.
